Bonderized
Bonderized steel has become one of the most popular specialty metal roofing & siding products available, due to its unique dark dull gray finish. Bonderized is commonly referred to, in other industries, as paint grip/paint lock. This product finish was originally designed to be coated with paint and became very popular with the rainwater industry. Bonderized steel starts out with a Hot Dipped G90 Galvanized (HDG) coating that is processed through a phosphate bath with a chromate drying process to make it ready to accept a paint finish. Due to the design of Bonderized unique finish and what it was originally intended for, this product is not intended for metal roofing and carries “NO WARRANTY” and is very batch sensitive & directional by nature. The finish may vary significantly from batch to batch due to the manufacturing process; Bonderized is not designed to be a finished good as it’s intent is to accept a coated paint finish.

Disclaimer
Bonderized steel must be ordered per batch to avoid color and other finish variations. Bonderized panels and related trim will naturally weather if not paint coated, for this reason, we recommend that panels and trim be used only with a roof slope of a minimum 3/12 pitch and not be installed in a manner that allows for ponding water. Water runoff from the Bonderized panels and related trim may stain surrounding surfaces, including but not limited to walls, sidewalks, driveways and vegetation. Bonderized is not intended for metal roofing and is sold “AS IS” and carries NO WARRANTY.
Bonderized finishes vary significantly from batch to batch, therefore the Bonderized is very batch sensitive & directional by nature. Careful planning is recommended to ensure enough material is ordered, this ensures the product can be processed from the same master coil. To ensure product is produced from the same master coil, this may lead to longer lead times based on project size and availability of the product.
Scratches easily during rollforming, installation & natural weather. (Film is not available because it will not adhere to Bonderized well.)
Not to be in contact or used with, raw or fire retardant treated cedar products (Class b) as they contains certain levels of tannic acid that have been known to cause corrosion to unprotected metal such as Bonderized.
