GALVANIZED

Galvanized steel is a popular choice for a variety of applications.  Although Galvanized is not used much anymore for metal roofing and siding but it is commonly used for many trim applications for hold down clips and cleats.  Galvanized has a long history that goes back to the 19th century.  Galvanizing of flat sheet metal is it goes though a hot dipping process that  helps protect the bare still that is underneath.  There are multiple coatings thicknesses of galvanized in the metal roofing industry.  Most commonly used is G-90 galvanized for bare galvanized panel and G-60 is commonly used as substrate for being painted and G-40 is commonly used for liner painted steel for indoor use.  The coating thickness is based on this formula; example, G-90 has 0.9 ounces of since for every one square foot, G-60 has 0.6 ounces per every square foot. The thicker the zinc the higher resistance against corrosion.
